Promotion of Access to Information Act (PAIA) Statement

Introduction

FutureTek Institute is committed to transparency, accountability and compliance with the Promotion of Access to Information Act, 2 of 2000 ("PAIA"), as amended.

PAIA gives effect to the constitutional right of access to information held by public and private bodies where access to that information is required for the exercise or protection of any rights.

FutureTek has prepared and maintains a PAIA Manual in accordance with applicable legislation.

Purpose of the PAIA Manual

The FutureTek PAIA Manual is intended to:

• Provide information regarding the categories of records held by FutureTek Institute.
• Explain how requests for access to records may be submitted.
• Outline the procedures and requirements for obtaining information.
• Support transparency and compliance with applicable legislation.
• Assist individuals seeking access to information held by FutureTek.

Information Officer

FutureTek has appointed an Information Officer responsible for administering requests for access to information and ensuring compliance with PAIA and POPIA requirements.

Categories of Records Held

FutureTek may hold records relating to:

• Corporate governance and compliance
• Academic programmes and learning material
• Student and learner administration
• Assessment and certification records
• Marketing and communication activities
• Financial and operational records
• Human resource and employment matters
• Contracts and agreements
• Information and communication technology systems
• POPIA compliance documentation

Requests for Access to Information

Requests for access to records must be submitted in writing to the Information Officer and should contain sufficient detail to identify the information being requested.

FutureTek will evaluate requests in accordance with PAIA and may grant or refuse access where permitted by law.

Certain records may be withheld where disclosure would:

• Violate privacy rights.
• Reveal confidential commercial information.
• Compromise security measures.
• Conflict with legal obligations.
• Be prohibited by applicable legislation.

Protection of Personal Information

FutureTek processes personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

Requests involving personal information will be considered alongside FutureTek's Privacy Notice and Data Protection Policy.

Availability of the PAIA Manual

A copy of the FutureTek PAIA Manual may be requested from the Information Officer or downloaded from this website where available.
